In a world where technology is evolving at breakneck speed, LG Automobiles stands out by being the first distributor in France and probably in Europe to offer cryptocurrency payments for the purchase of vehicles. This innovative project was born thanks to a partnership with the French company Lyzi, launched in September 2022.
‍
Gérald Imbert, CEO of the LG Automobiles Group, underlines the importance of diversifying offers in a constantly changing market. “In a very changing environment, it is crucial to position yourself on various topics to create value and get ahead of our competitors,” he explains. Despite the volatility of cryptocurrencies, LG Automobiles remains committed to this long-term project, thus strengthening its legitimacy in this new market.
‍
LG Automobiles' approach is not limited to traditional buyers. The group also targets a young and dynamic clientele, often from varied professional backgrounds, who invest in cryptocurrency. Aline Allely, marketing director, describes these buyers as ranging from a 25-30-year-old who is passionate about Pokémon to more conventional investors. “We have succeeded in attracting different buyer profiles, far from our usual customer base,” says Gérald Imbert.
‍
LG Automobiles' participation in the Block Expo in Toulouse, a major event on Web3 and AI, allowed the team to better understand this universe. Thanks to this type of event, the group has strengthened its skills to better serve its new customers.
‍
‍
To support this evolution, LG Automobiles has set up a concierge service, in collaboration with Lyzi. This service includes specialized contacts who understand the specific needs of crypto customers. “At the beginning, we encountered a clash of cultures, but this concierge facilitated exchanges and established a relationship of trust,” explains Gérald Imbert.
‍
Another major challenge lies in the authentication of funds to avoid any problems during transactions. Aline Allely underlines the importance of rigorously verifying the origin of funds, in order to guarantee the security of transactions. “Even if this limits the number of sales, we prefer quality over quantity,” she says.
‍
‍
Since the launch of this payment method, LG Automobiles has sold several vehicles through cryptocurrency transactions. In September 2024, four sales were made in a single month, illustrating a renewed interest in this payment method. The success of these sales is also linked to the rise of Bitcoin, whose value is now around €57,500.
‍
With the expansion of cryptocurrency payments to classic vehicles under the LG Dream Cars brand, the LG Automobiles Group is firmly committed to the future of the automotive trade. This innovative project opens the way to new opportunities for both the group and its customers, marking a turning point in the way luxury vehicles are purchased.
